James Boniface "Jim" Holtman

James Boniface "Jim" Holtman, age 87, of Payson, died on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 in Blessing Hospital. He was born on July 10, 1934 in Quincy, the son of Elmer and Clara (Schneider) Holtman. Jim married Clara Frances Ehrhardt on June 27, 1959 in St. Anthony Catholic Church. She survives.

He was a machinist at Firestone (Electric Wheel), then at Harris before his retirement. Jim served his country in the US Army, two years active and two years inactive, stationed primarily in Norfolk, VA.

Jim loved baseball, having played on many local teams in his youth. At age 60 he began golfing and greatly enjoyed the game. Jim also enjoyed a good card game, visiting his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and traveling, having visited all 50 U.S. states. Jim was a handyman and could fix just about anything.

He was a lifelong member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. Jim also was a member of the Holy Name Society and volunteered at many church activities.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Shelley (Brad) Winking of McKinney, TX and Sandy (Scott) Doty of Farmington, MO; grandchildren: Kristen (Will) Robinson of Calera, OK, Alex (Kristen) Winking of McKinney, TX, Sy Doty and Abigail Doty of Farmington, MO. Six great grandchildren survive: Carson, CJ, Ellie, and Cade Robinson and James and Emelia Winking. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild, Kayla Winking.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Anthony Catholic Church by Rev. Tom Donovan. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 10:00 a.m. The family kindly requests that masks be worn at the visitation and funeral services.
