Alberta Christine Freiburg

Alberta Christine Freiburg, 89, of Quincy, went to be with her Lord on September 30, 2021 surrounded by her children in her home.

Born November 21, 1931, in Quincy, she was a daughter of Herbert and Agnes (Waterkotte) Brink. She married Robert 'Bob' Freiburg on November 25, 1950, in St. Francis Catholic Church in Quincy. He died February 12, 1996.

Bert was a 1949 graduate of Notre Dame High School. She met her husband while working at Riggs Optical. She worked at Kroger's for ten years as a cake decorator and made the wedding cakes for her children. She was a long-time member of St. John and St. Francis Catholic churches. She was a member of the Women's Club of Triple Oaks for many years, and at times served as president, vice president and secretary. She also played cards for a number of years at Tangerine Bowl. In addition, she enjoyed bowling on a couple's league with her husband and on a women's league. After retiring, Bert and Bob enjoyed traveling across the U.S. Bert also played golf for a short time. And, she has been an avid Cardinal fan.

Survivors include her children: Bonnie and her husband (Greg) Doellman, John and his wife (Candi) Freiburg and Frank and his wife (Linda) Freiburg all of Quincy, Jan and her husband (Phil) Olkin of Fortuna, CA and Chris and her husband (Jeff) Inman of O'Fallon, MO, a sister, Mary Haistings of Barry Community Center in Barry, IL, seven grandchildren: Andrea and her husband (Travis) Peters of Quincy, Matt and his wife (Jen) Freiburg of O'Fallon, IL, Scott Freiburg and his fiancé Julie Lightle of Quincy, Rachael and her husband (Ike) Gabriel of Birmingham, AL, Michael Olkin and his fiancé Kaitlin Rudolph of Albany, OR, Molly Inman and Josh Inman of O'Fallon, MO, five great-grandchildren: Corporal Hunter Goehl of Fort Benning, GA, Declan Stoner of Quincy, Aiden Freiburg and Maya Freiburg of O'Fallon, IL, Xander Huber of Quincy and five step great-grandchildren: Banyan and Kaelen Gabriel of Birmingham, AL, and Karly, Nate and Anna Peters of Quincy. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Herbert Brink and Bill Brink and two sisters, Ginny Bonness and Rita Koch, and an infant granddaughter, Margaret Inman.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 8, 2021 at 11:00 AM in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held at St. Francis Catholic Church on Friday from 10:00 until the time of the mass at 11:00. The family requests all attending the visitation and the service wear masks. Memorials can be made to Blessing Hospice and St. Francis Church. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
