Maureen Florence Fisher
Maureen Florence Fisher, 96, of Quincy, passed away Wednesday March 9, 2022 at 3:20 pm in Boone Hospital in Columbia, MO after a brief illness.
Maureen was born on October 28, 1925 in Quincy, IL to John W. and Ada (Buschman) Kerkering. She married Robert A. Fisher on May 3, 1948 at St Francis Church in Quincy. He proceeded her in death on February 21,1976.
She was loving, kind, strong and independent woman who enjoyed being on the go. She enjoyed playing golf, bowling, especially with her grandchildren, swimming, line dancing, travel, near and far. She also loved attending the Quincy Little Theater, summer concerts in the park and dining out.
Maureen retired from the Illinois Veterans Home after 20 + years of service in the accounting department. After retiring she Volunteered for many years first at St Mary's Hospital and then at Blessing Hospital.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Ann (Fisher) Clark and son-in-law Steven Clark, a son, Steven Robert Fisher and daughter-in -law, Theresa (Kelly) Fisher. Her grandchildren are Melinda (Fisher) and Jeff McAtee, Peter and Mamie Clark, Mary(Fisher) and Matt Cloud, Sarah (Clark) and Brian Schmidt, Thomas and Carrie Clark, Tim and Kelsy Fisher. She also leaves behind great grandchildren Ethan and Emma McAtee, Tyler and Owen Cloud, Mason Fisher, Wyatt and William Clark, James and Oliver Clark and Ruby and David Schmidt and many nieces and nephews.
Besides Robert, her husband, she was preceded in death by a son Michael Fisher, parents John W. and Ada Kerkering, three brothers John H. Kerkering, Stan Kerkering, Rich Kerkering and a sister Mary Kerkering.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Catholic Church, Quincy Notre Dame, Quincy University, or donor's choice.
