Mary Jane Kenning
Mary Jane Kenning, age 88, of Quincy, died on Saturday, March 20, 2021 in Good Samaritan Home. She was born on November 15, 1932 in Quincy, the daughter of Oscar and Mathilda (Olps) Luecken.
Mary attended St. Mary's School and was a 1950 graduate of Quincy Notre Dame. While in school, Mary worked as a clerk at the Kenning IGA. There she met the love of her life, Paul Kenning. They were married on April 23, 1952 in St. Mary Church. Mary Jane and Paul spent 67 years together before he preceded her in death on November 17, 2019.
Mary enjoyed being a full-time mom. For many years she worked in the catalog department at Sears. Her greatest love was spending time with her family, especially her nine grandchildren. She loved playing cards, dominoes and any kind of game. Mary and Paul spent many years travelling the country, in the RV and spending winters in Arizona and Florida.
Mary was a current member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church and a former member of St. Dominic Catholic Church.
Mary is survived by her children: Michael Kenning of Quincy; Steve Kenning and his wife Cindy of Quincy; Jane Flint and her husband Maurice of Petersburg, IL; and Amy Obert and her husband Matt of Quincy.
Nine grandchildren: Keith Kenning and his wife Julie; Troy Kenning; Brian Kenning; Eric Flint and his wife Gabriela; Ryan Flint and his wife Julie; Jacob Obert; Nathan Obert; Emily Obert; and Mathias Obert.
Seven great grandchildren: Kassidy, Kaleb, Rylie, Evan, Braxton, Ethan and Brandon. A brother, Jack (Carol) Luecken of Sherrodsville, OH.
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
She leaves behind many dear friends who will miss her greatly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother and sister in infancy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 26, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday morning from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church or Good Samaritan Home. Services are in care of Duker & Haugh Funeral Home.
