Rodney E. Hoffman

Rodney E. Hoffman, age 72, of the Illinois Veterans Home, formerly of 1430 North 20th, died on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 in Blessing Hospital. He was born on October 18, 1947 in Quincy, IL the son of Robert E. & Marjorie (Hecke) Hoffman. He married Carol Huner on August 13, 1966. She survives.

Mr. Hoffman was a Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was the Supervisor of the machine shop at E. L. Smith and Sons. He later worked as a machinist at Trinity Industries. He then later worked as a supervisor for security for Mark Twain Casino until his retirement.

Mr. Hoffman was an avid hunter, fisherman and NASCAR fan. Rodney was a lifetime member of the South Side Boat Club. He was also a long-time member of the Twin Oaks, the VFW and the American Legion.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by:
TWO CHILDREN: Rodney S. Hoffman and his wife Lisa of Quincy and Michelle Hendrix and her husband Steve of Milton, FL
TWO GRANDCHILDREN: Avery Hoffman and Austin Hoffman (Leah Murfin)
SIBLINGS: Robert A. Hoffman and his wife Jackie; Randy Hoffman and Linda Sexton and her husband Theo.
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Mr. Hoffman was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 6, 2020 at 10:00 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Sunset Cemetery of the Illinois Veterans Home with military rites conducted at the cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Illinois Veterans Home Activities Fund or to Junior Achievement.
