Jay Lee Arnold

Jay Lee Arnold, age 66, of Liberty, IL died on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 in Blessing Hospital. Jay was born in Decatur, IN on November 9, 1955, a son of Charles L. & Phyllis (Geisler) Arnold. He married Linda Sue Schipper on June 2,1990 in Denver, CO, she survives.

Jay graduated with a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering Technology from Purdue University of Ft. Wayne, IN. Professionally, Jay had worked as a Test Engineer for the Boeing Aerospace Company in Seattle, WA. and Martin Marietta Astronautics Group, Denver, CO. After moving to the Quincy area, he continued his work as a Test Engineer for Glenayre Electronics of Quincy and Methode Electronics in Golden, IL. Prior to retiring, he worked at Best Buy.

A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Jay served a 2-year mission in the Billings, MT Mission. Jay taught a primary class with his wife and also participated in many other church service projects: helping people move, attending Scout Camp, and at times helping serve at Salem Church's Saturday meals. Jay helped lead the Cub Scouts in Liberty when his son was younger. Jay assisted with constructing his son's Eagle project of putting bleachers at the Liberty small diamond for the summer league.

Jay was active in sports as a youth, wrestling in Junior High and football in High School. He continued as an adult playing basketball at Church for many years. One way he showed his love for his children was by attending their many sporting events. He enjoyed time with his family. The immediate family were well aware of how Jay liked to keep his lawn mowed and clear of fallen leaves.

In addition to his wife Linda, survivors also include his mom, Phyllis Arnold Hindenlang of Decatur, IN. Two children, Jacob Arnold and Sarah Arnold currently living in Utah; a brother, Mark (Sherre) Arnold of Paducah, KY. as well as other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his Dad, maternal and paternal grandparents.

Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday, July 18, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 210 Cardinal, Quincy, IL. Private interment will be in Decatur, IN. In lieu of flowers the family suggests giving a memorial to the Blessing Hospital Foundation for Hospice or to a Food Pantry of the donor's choice.
