Robert E. Elledge
Robert E Elledge, age 90, died peacefully in his sleep on June 28, 2021 in his home. He was born on September 12, 1930 in Hannibal, MO the son of Eugene D. Elledge and Erma (Knuffman) Elledge. He married Ursula Josephine Bastean on May 10, 1952. She preceded him in death on September 29, 2005. Robert moved to Pomona, C in the late 60's but Quincy was always his "home". He moved back after Ursula's passing. He was a truck driver nearly all his life. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War and received the Purple Heart Award, being one of only 4 to survive an attack. Robert loved golf, dancing, fishing and was always a jokester.
He is survived by: Three children: Mark Elledge of Quincy, Matt Elledge of Quincy, and Michelle Kavanaugh (Michael) of Corona, CA.
Grandchildren: Wanda Gonzalez (Filiberto), David Elledge, Madelyn Watkins and Maxwell Watkins.
Great-Grandchildren: Arianna, Phillip, Trinity, and "Bugs" Gonzalez.
Siblings: Leroy Elledge (Virginia) and Beverly Timpe.
Numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
Robert was preceded in death by a son Michael Elledge, a son Milo Elledge in infancy and siblings: Jack Elledge and Bonnie Calhoun.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 5, 2021 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Internment following in Sunset Cemetery of the Illinois Veterans Home with military rites conducted at the cemetery by the Army National Guard Honor Detail and the American Legion Post #37 Honor Detail. Memorials may be made to the Great River Honor Flight.
