Karen and I met in 1st grade at Ursa School and graduated together 12 years later from Unity High School. We became good friends. During that time we played softball for the Ursa Indian GraveDiggers 4-H Club. Karen was a great hitter and catcher. We had great times together growing up.

I was so sorry to hear about Karen's passing when I was in Kent's Pittsfield office Wednesday. She and I met our freshmen year at Unity HS. We spent many fun-filled hours on bus trips with extra-curricular school activities those next four years. We both played clarinets in hs band and in past years ran into each other at teacher conferences/workshops. I'll never forget her wonderful smile!

Nothing was more important to Karen than family. She shared many stories of her memories with them. I watched Karen face her illness with courage and strength which was not surprising. RIP Karen, you will be missed, so very sorry to her family and friends
