Mary A. Haistings

Mary A. Haistings, age 94, of Quincy, died on Monday, January 3, 2022 in the Barry Community Care Center. She was born on March 13, 1927 in Quincy, the daughter of Herbert and Agnes (Waterkotte) Brink. Mary worked at Mercantile Bank from February of 1953 until her retirement in March of 1989.

As a proud mother, loving grandmother, and aunt, Mary touched so many with her caring and kind nature. As a lifelong member of St. Francis Catholic Church, she found pleasure in attending mass and praying for those she loved. She was also a member of the Ladies of St. Francis. She enjoyed playing cards, reading, and golfing at Cedar Crest Country Club. Through the years she enjoyed traveling on bus trips and visiting relatives. Watching Cardinal Baseball was one of her favorite pastimes. Most of all, though, she enjoyed time spent with her family.

Mary is survived by:
A SON: Robert 'Bob' Haistings and his wife Judy of Quincy.
GRANDSON: Scott Haistings and his wife Jeanine of Kansas City, MO
GREAT GRANDDAUGHTERS: Samantha and Sydney Haistings also of Kansas City, MO.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Rita Koch, Alberta Freiburg, William Brink, Herbert Brink, Jr., and Virginia 'Ginny' Bonness.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at 11:00 AM in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the services at 11:00 at St. Francis Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, please give a donation to the Knights of Columbus TV Mass for Shut-Ins or to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

We always enjoyed Aunt Mary's cookies although it broke our heart when we found out that she had made them and not Grandma. Aunt Mary waited until we were adults to deliver the news and we all got a good laugh out of it.
