Mark O. Scott

Mark O. Scott

Mark O. Scott, age 64, of Quincy, died on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 in Blessing Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born on October 1, 1957 in Quincy, the son of George and June (Lewis) Scott.

Mark was a graduate of Quincy High School, class of 1976. After high school he moved to Columbia, Mo, then spent some time in Texas before returning to Quincy, IL. He was known throughout the years as the car salesman of the area. Mark was in auto sales for various companies but spent most of his time working with customers for Tom Boland and Gem City Ford.

He married Donita Osborne in 1993, and out of that union they had a son, Jeremy Lewis Osborne. Mark enjoyed watching Jeremy play sports and recently, as a coach of Tolton Catholic High School. He enjoyed socializing with friends and family, playing cards, and following sports. There was never a dull moment when watching sports with Mark, whether he was in person or watching them on the TV. He was a Dallas Cowboys and St. Louis Cardinals fanatic, there was no bigger fan around. But his greatest joys were his three grandchildren: Leighton, Landri, and Langston Osborne. He handed down his extreme love for the Cowboys and Cardinals to each one and looked forward to their conversations during the games.

Mark was always up for anything, enjoyed a good laugh with those closest to him, and always had a quick-witted saying. He will forever be missed and cherished by those who were blessed to get to know him.

Mark is survived by his son, Jeremy Osborne and wife, Brittany of Columbia, MO. His beloved grandchildren Leighton, Landri and Langston Osborne. His siblings Deborah Smith (Rev. John); Bobbie June Bright, George Scott (Adrienne); Kim Scott, Torry Scott, Devin Scott (Veronica); Todd Scott (Heike); Curt Scott (Bonita); Alex Scott (Suzanne); Cory Scott, Bridget Scott-Miller, and Tyra Johnson (Lucius). Along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents.

A Memorial Service for the public will be held at First Baptist Church of Quincy, IL on January 18th at 1:00p.m. with Rev. Dr. Orville B. Jones Jr. presiding. For those wishing to give to his grandchildren in his honor please contact Missouri Credit Union in Columbia, Mo; Three L's Scholarship Fund.

Cremation rites have been accorded. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
