Heidi Nestrick

Heidi LaNae Nestrick, 55, of Quincy, died on Thursday, January 27, 2022, in her home. Heidi was born on January 14, 1967, in Vandalia, IL. She was a 1986 graduate of Marian Heights Academy in Ferdinand, IN. Heidi's greatest joy in life was her family. She was the youngest of five siblings and when her mother remarried Vincent Sommer she gained eleven more wonderful siblings and an amazing step father. Heidi enjoyed family reunions and barbecues, playing cards and she took great joy in watching her son, Christian, play basketball for the Quincy Blue Devils. She loved to do a crossword puzzle while Otis read the paper and they often enjoyed watching sports together on T.V. Heidi was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, a passion she shared with her mother. Heidi lost her father, Harold, to leukemia at a very young age. She also helped care for her step sibling that fell ill and passed away in their childhood home. These experiences were tough, but through them Heidi found her calling. She later became a CNA and cared for patients at the Good Samaritan Home in Quincy, IL, for many years. Heidi's legacy of loving family and caring for others lives on in her family.

Survivors include her life-partner, Otis Bias, Sr., of Quincy, IL, their son, Christian Bias, his wife, Lindsi, and their grandson, Maverick Bias; five siblings: Dwight Nestrick and his wife, Anne; Kevin Nestrick and his wife, Cheri; Regina Hamilton and her husband, Jack; and H.L. Nestrick and his wife, Jodi.
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives, including Otis' family members who Heidi considered her own: Otis Bias, Jr., Jamie Bias, JJ Bias-Magliocco, Jazmyn Bias, Alexis Bias, Janae Bias, Dorian Magliocco and Journee Youngblood.

Heidi was preceded in death by her father, Harold LeRoy Nestrick, and her mother, Martha Dale Lewton Sommer.

Per Heidi's wishes, her body was donated to science. A memorial visitation will be held on February 4, 2022, from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
