Thomas Edward "Tom" Tushaus

Thomas Edward 'Tom' Tushaus, age 87, of Quincy, died on Wednesday, December 16, 2021 in his home. He was born on May 3, 1934 in Ursa, IL the son of Paul and Gladys (Thyson) Tushaus. He married Janet Kay Florey on December 26, 1955. She preceded him in death on November 19, 2017. Tom was a graduate of St. Francis Grade School and a 1952 graduate of Quincy Notre Dame. He was employed at Gardner Denver as a pattern maker for 15 years. He then was the co-owner and president of Midwest Patterns for the next 41 years.

Tom served on the Quincy Notre Dame School Board and Foundation Board. He was also on the Business Technology Board and the Society of Plastic Board. Tom was a long time member and past president of Spring Lake Country Club. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Quincy Exchange Club and the Elks Club.

Tom was always larger than life. He loved to travel and golf. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, boating and spending a lot of time at the Lake of the Ozarks. He also enjoyed his house in Florida for over 25 years. Above all, he loved being with family.

Tom is survived by: ONE SON: Thomas Kevin Tushaus of Ursa, IL
THREE GRANDCHLDREN: Elizabeth VanLeeuwen and her husband Thad of Kansas City, MO; Kelly Bell and her husband Al of Kirkwood, MO; and Ryan Frericks and his significant other Megan Sorrill of Quincy, IL.
FIVE GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Abigail and Garrett VanLeeuwen; Jonah Bell; Wyatt Sorrill and Jackson Frericks.
One sister: Mary Lou Rakers and her husband Tom.
Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

In addition to his wife, Tom was also preceded in death by his daughter Terri Lynn Frericks and a brother Richard 'Dick' Tushaus along with his wife Paula.

Per Tom's wish, cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Tom's life will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Terri Frericks Scholarship at Quincy Notre Dame.
