Bonnie L. Cress

Bonnie L. Cress, age 85, of Quincy, died on Monday, December 13, 2021, in Bickford Cottages. Bonnie was born on March 31, 1936, in Quincy to Lawrence and Mary Margaret (Peters) Schullian. She married John "Jack" Cress on May 9, 1959, in St. Boniface Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on May 29, 1993.

Bonnie was a 1954 graduate of Quincy Notre Dame before going on to graduate from nursing school. She worked as a pediatric Registered Nurse for Blessing Hospital until 1970 before becoming a stay-at-home mom while her daughters were young. Bonnie later worked full-time for JC Penney until her retirement in 2004.

Bonnie was a longtime member of Church of Saint Peter. For many years she and Jack were involved with the Quincy Kennel Club. They participated in the annual craft show, and the annual Christmas event of taking stuffed dogs to the pediatric unit at Blessing and served as Chair on several committees. Bonnie loved sheltie dogs, watching game shows, especially Wheel of Fortune. She excelled at cooking, baking cookies, collecting recipe books, and going shopping.

Bonnie is survived by her two daughters, Lori Schuckman Goodson (Jason) of Springfield, IL, and Lisa Cress (Kirk Sperling) of Quincy; eight grandchildren, David Schuckman (Lisa), Lauren Thibodeau (Seth), Kailey Scott (Ricky), Aubrey Schuckman and Alyssa Schuckman (Nicholas Thompson), Anthony Cress, Jacquelyn Cress and Samuel Pleasant-Cress.
Twelve great-grandchildren, Bradi, Cole, and Hunter Schuckman Corral, Maciah Sogunro, Amari Jones; Aiden and Henley Thibodeau; Quintin Blake and Jackson "Jack" Scott and Sage Cress. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Virginia Koch and her brother, Donald Schullian.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 20, 2021, at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in the Church of Saint Peter. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, December 19, 2021, from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
