Rosalie G. Blentlinger

Rosalie G. Blentlinger, age 89, of Quincy, died on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 in Blessing Hospital. She was born on November 23, 1928 in Liberty, IL the daughter of Frank and Ruth (Wiewel) Smith. She first married Virgil H. Maas in 1946, and together they had their six children. Virgil preceded her in death. She later married Russell Blentlinger and he also preceded her in death.

She graduated in 1946 from Liberty High School. Rosalie worked as an office nurse for Dr. A.W. Rokita, MD and Dr. Roy Olsen, an oral surgeon.

Rosalie was currently a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish and was formerly a member of St. Brigid Catholic Church. She could be found volunteering at the Quincy Senior Center or contributing to and helping at the dinners at Blessed Sacrament Parish. Rosalie loved playing cards weekly with her friends, and regularly attending area ice cream socials and dinners. She was known for her zucchini bread.

Rosalie is survived by her children: Lawrence "Larry" (Suzanne) Maas of Liberty, Michael "Mike" (Debbie) Maas of Liberty, Charlotte A. (Leroy) Wagner of Ewing, MO, Susan Cray of Quincy and Marilyn Schipitsch of Marco Island, FL; and one sister, Carlene Atkinson, of WI.
Ten grandchildren: Larry Maas, Kirk Maas, Kristina (Dewayne) Klingele, Sarah (Ted) Genenbacher, Katie (Dennis) Ippensen, Stacey (Phil) Frederickson, Jodi Reagan, Todd (Sheri) Reagan, Troy (Margaret) Reagan and Denise (Christian) Zimmerman: Thirteen great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
Nieces and nephews and other relatives also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Eugene Maas, brothers: Clarence, Merle, Leo, and Jerry Smith; sisters: Pauline Schindler, Margie McVay and Joan Haley; and a great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Brigid Catholic Church. Interment in St. Brigid Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday morning from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. in St. Brigid Catholic Church. Memorials may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital or St. Brigid Cemetery.
