Donald R. "Don" Meyer

Donald (Don) Meyer, age 82, of Quincy, Illinois died peacefully on Sunday, September 16, 2018 in the Quincy Illinois Veterans Home with his family by his side.
Don was born May 20, 1936 in Quincy, IL, a son of Raymond and Virginia (Stork) Meyer. He graduated from Quincy Senior High School in 1955 and served in the US Army, overseas in Korea, 1959-61 and was honorably discharged in 1965. He married Glenadene (Glenny) Schuecking on April 28, 1962, in Quincy, Illinois. He was a Stock Room Foreman for Harris Corp. (Gates Radio), in Quincy, Illinois, for 44 years, retiring in 1998.

He was a loyal and lifelong St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan. He loved traveling and golfing with family and friends. His sons and grandsons were his greatest pride. A majority of his retirement days began with morning coffee and camaraderie with a special group of friends.

Survivors include his wife, Glenadene of Quincy, three sons, Michael (Christy), El Dorado Hills, California, Paul, of Quincy, Illinois and Dean (Katy), Raleigh, North Carolina and five grandsons, Logan, Keenan, Gavin of California, Cole and Gage of North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard.
Cremation rites were accorded. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Saturday morning from 10:00 -11:00 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be on Saturday afternoon from 12:00 noon – 3:00 p.m. at The Pier in Quincy. Memorials may be made to Quincy Humane Society, Transitions of Western Illinois or a Charity of the Donor's Choice.
