Hazel Schwartz

Hazel Schwartz, age 76, of Quincy, died on Thursday, November 16, 2017 in Blessing Hospital. She was born on September 12, 1941 in Hannibal, MO, the daughter of Andrew Neff and Georgia (Brinkman) Neff. Hazel married Robert Schwartz on June 15, 1974 in St. Brigid Catholic Church. He preceded her in death.

Hazel was employed by Adams FS until her retirement in 1997. She was a member of Plainville Methodist Church. Hazel was an election judge and volunteered at the Red Cross Blood Drives. She was also a member of Home Extension, loved working with flowers and spending time with her family. She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and her little dogs, Heidi and Missy.

Hazel is survived by two sons: Steve (Susie) Schwartz of Quincy and John (Nancy) Schwartz of Barry; four daughters: Sharon (Roger) Graves of Liberty, Theresa (Tom) Hoyt of Barry, Tina (Mike) Flesner of Quincy and Brenda (Dale) Hess of Quincy. One brother: Amos (Carol) Neff of Barry; one sister, Betty (Terry) Goings of Durham, MO, 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert, one brother, Russel and one sister at birth.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. in the Good Samaritan Chapel. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00 -4:00 p.m. in the Good Samaritan Chapel. Interment in St. Brigid Cemetery with a graveside service on Monday, November 20, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Activity Fund or Quincy Humane Society. Hazel was a wonderful person that I remember the good part of my life going back to attending the Methodist church in Plainville she was a great Sunday school teacher just a nice person all around Bless her and her family.

I have so many memories of Hazel. Growing up in Plainville, we spent lots of time on High Street and played at her house with Rusty and all the neighborhood kids. She was a lovely lady and always a smile on her face. She will be missed by so many!!
