Wilfred Obert

Wilfred L. Obert, age 95, of the Good Samaritan Home, formerly of 4111 Mistletoe CT, died on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at Blessing Hospital. He was born on September 23, 1921 in Quincy the son of Edward & Edith (Kamphaus) Obert. He married Florence Wellman on April 30, 1947. She preceded him in death on June 21, 2008.

Mr. Obert was a lifelong farmer. He was a long-time member of the Church of St. Peter. Wilfred was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He greatly enjoyed playing cards. In his earlier years, he was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing other sports. In later years he enjoyed watching sports. He loved his gardening and yard work. His greatest enjoyment was the time he spent with his family and friends.

He is survived by:
THREE CHILDREN: Duane Obert and his wife Kathleen of St. Louis, MO; Lois Attey of Quincy; Bradley Obert and wife Janet of St. Louis, MO.
Grandchildren, Tina Whitaker, Timothy Attey and his wife Melissa, Troy Attey and Thomas Attey all of Quincy; Molly, Katie and Ryan Obert all of St. Louis and a great-grandson, Trevor Attey of Quincy.
Brothers: Edward Obert and his wife Norma; and LeRoy Obert and his wife Delores
Sisters: Betty Brinkman, Mary Louise Wellman and her husband Kenneth, and Anna Mae Liggett and her husband Bob.
Sisters-in-Law: Norma Jean Obert and 'Sis' Obert
Numerous nieces nephews and other relatives also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son-in-law: Gary Attey, Siblings: Irene Schreacke along with her husband Paul, Kenneth Obert, Virgil Obert, Edith 'Dolly' Schreacke along with her husband Lawrence, Carlene Peters along with her husband Charles and an additional brother in law: Jim Brinkman.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 28, 2016 at 9:30 in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 in the Church of St. Peter. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Knights of Columbus TV Mass for Shut-Ins, the Church of St. Peter or to the American Heart Association.
