Thomas Francis "Tom" Venvertloh

Thomas Francis "Tom" Venvertloh, age 75, of 2628 Brook Dr., Quincy, died on Friday, November 6, 2015 in St. Vincent Home. He was born on October 14, 1940 in Quincy, a son of Albert & Leora (Schrand) Venvertloh. He married Mary M. Baugher on September 12, 1964. She survives.

Tom was an accountant for the Illinois Veteran's Home for over thirty years.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, stationed in Germany.

He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and their Holy Name Men's Group. He lectored at St. Francis for over twenty years. He was a Third Degree Member and officer of the Knights of Columbus. He played softball and umpired until he was seventy years old. He even had the pleasure of playing slow-pitch softball in leagues with all three of his children at different times. He was on the set-up crew for the TV mass where he also lectored. He was a life-long blood donor.

In addition to his wife, Mary, he is survived by:
THREE CHILDREN, Joyce (Brad) Serangeli of St. Peters, MO, Chuck (Tracy) Venvertloh and Kevin (Vicki Schwartz) Venvertloh, all of Quincy;
SIX GRANDCHILDREN, Anthony Serangeli, Benjamin Serangeli, Katie Serangeli, Aubrey Venvertloh, Max Venvertloh and Clay Venvertloh;
TWO BROTHERS, John Venvertloh and Larry (Sandy) Venvertloh;
TWO SISTERS, Alice (Tom) Hummel and Mary Jo Venvertloh;
AN AUNT, Rita Haughey
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a child, Tom Venvertloh, Jr. in infancy.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery with military honors conducted at the cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Legion Post #37 Honor Guard, Quincy Notre Dame High School,the Knights of Columbus TV Mass for the Shut-Ins or Donor's Choice.

I remember Tom very well at the soldiers home days, we was always a very nice guy to talk too and sometimes would attend Mass at the old basement chapel
