Anna Mae Hollensteiner
Anna Mae Hollensteiner, age 84, of Quincy, died on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 9:10 a.m. in North Adams Home, Mendon, IL. She was born on March 20, 1931 in Quincy, a daughter of John & Antoinette (Blaesing) Willer. She married John A. Hollensteiner, Jr. on June 12, 1951 in St. Francis Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on July 13, 2004.
Mrs. Hollensteiner was a devoted homemaker. Her family was always her priority, as was attending her children's and grandchildren's activities. She beautifully played the piano by ear. Her joy was to host and cook for family get-togethers. She was also a loving caregiver and took special care of her mother and her brother, Roger. Mrs. Hollensteiner had worked as a cook at Lakeview Restaurant and St. Dominic School.
She was a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church and a former member of St. Dominic Catholic Church. Anna Mae was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary.
She is survived by twelve children: Patricia Mitchell and her husband Warren, Dan "Hoggie" Hollensteiner and his wife Leanne, Kevin Hollensteiner and his wife Michelle, Mike Hollensteiner and his wife Cheryl, Joe Hollensteiner and his wife Cathy, Joyce Mast and her husband Ron, Steve Hollensteiner, all of Quincy, Laurie Duesterhaus and her husband Alan of Ursa, IL, Bruce Hollensteiner and his wife Deb, Julie Lockett all of Quincy, Jane Jibben and her husband Matt of Coatsburg, IL and Melissa Carstens and her husband Craig, of Quincy; 34 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marge Spoonmore and Kathy (Larry) Klauser, all of Quincy.
Many nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
In addition to her husband, John, and her parents, she was preceded in death by a step-mother, Dorothy Willer; a son, Brian Hollensteiner; two great-grandsons in infancy, Jad & Kal Mitchell; a brother Roger Willer; two sisters, Carol in infancy and Barb Speckhart.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 2, 2015 at 9:15 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Anthony Catholic Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Adams County, Blessing Foundation for Hospice or the K of C's TV Mass for the Shut-Ins.
