Sandra Alice Frese Doellman

Sandra Alice Frese Doellman age 79, of Quincy died on Saturday, May 19, 2018 in Blessing Hospital. Sandy was born March 29, 1939 in Quincy's Blessing Hospital, the daughter of Clarence and Bertha (Quintemeyer) Frese.

She married Donald L. Doellman on October 20, 1978 in Central Baptist Church, Quincy. Sandy truly believed that the Lord sent Don to her. He was a wonderful husband, and an amazing father to his children. They met in May 1978 and were married that October. Don died April 6, 2012.

A 1957 graduate of Quincy Senior High School, her class was the last to graduate from the old High School which is now Quincy Junior High. From 1957-1958 she attended Blessing Hospital School of Nursing.

Sandy worked at Bergner's Department Store in Quincy, retiring after 36 years with the store. She began as a sales clerk, and in the early 1990's she was appointed Activities Director. When she retired, she was an assistant sales manager. For a period-of time, Sandy trained every new employee, a role she was very proud of. She handled any special event which included Senior Days, Children's Events, bridal events and more.

Her greatest event was Community Days, held twice annually where non-profit agencies earned money selling booklets. At one time, Sandy had 148 local agencies participating and making Quincy the leading store in the state for this event. For her, Bergner's was a wonderful place to work. She always remembered the many friendships she made there, especially with Janet Canavan and Tom Rush.

After her retirement, Sandy enjoyed her time volunteering at Blessing Hospital.

Sandy was a member of Central Baptist Church for over 65 years, and she was baptized at the age of 10 when she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.

Survivors include: her STEPCHILDREN, Thomas Doellman and his wife Sue of Quincy; Karen Baker and her husband Rick of Dixon, CA; Ken Doellman and his wife Mary of Quincy;
ELEVEN GRANDCHILDREN: Kendy Cunningham and her husband Jeff; Tommy Doellman and his wife Erica; Arista Bauerly and her husband Jason; Steve Hamann; Jennifer Alexander, Kari Baker, Matthew Doellman and his wife Mary Straub Doellman; Kevin Doellman, Brian Doellman and his fiancé Christina Kouba; Amanda Heck and Adam Doellman and his wife Kristy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers, Raymond "Mickey" Frese and Johnnie Frese; a stepson, Donald G. and his wife Mary Ann Doellman and her nephews Robert and Ronald Frese.

Sandy was so grateful for the outstanding care she received throughout her treatment for Triple Negative Breast Cancer. Special thanks to Dr. El-Khoury, Judy, Pat and all at Blessing Cancer Center, and to Dr. Hanzel and his team at the Wound Center for being so good at what they do.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 23. 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Central Baptist Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at Central Baptist Church.
