Evelyn L. Genenbacher
Evelyn Laura Genenbacher age 89, of Quincy, died on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. in St. Vincent's Home. Evelyn was born in Payson, IL on March 12, 1929, a daughter of Joseph and Laura (Schmidt) Kaltenbach. She married her husband of 67 years, Clarence G. Genenbacher on May 23, 1951 in St. Brigid Catholic Church in Liberty, and he survives.
Evelyn was a mother and homemaker. Prior to her marriage, she worked at International Shoe Company for one year, then worked at Moorman Manufacturing Co. from 1950-1961, and she worked at Quincy Notre Dame in the cafeteria from 1979 to 1987 when she retired.
She was a graduate of Payson Seymour High School. Evelyn was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Parish. She had been a member of the Quilter's and Funeral Luncheon Committees at both St. Dominic and St. Anthony Churches.
In addition to her husband Clarence, survivors include her children, David J. (Carrie) Genenbacher; Debbie A. (Michael) Smith all of Quincy; Gary G. (Kimberly) Genenbacher of Decatur, IL, and Kevin M. Genenbacher of Quincy.
Grandchildren: Catelyn (Clint) Genenbacher Frese; Cale (Diana) Genenbacher; Grey Genenbacher; Mariah Genenbacher; Amber (Joseph) Smith Terwelp; Addison Genenbacher, Macy, Shae and Lake Genenbacher. Great-Grandchildren: Aaden, Rolen, and Larren Frese; Viana and Andele Genenbacher; Chloe and Carter Terwelp; Brothers and Sister-in-law, Louis Runser of Burton, IL; Mary and Ralph Boyer; and Ralph Genenbacher all of Quincy, and many nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sisters, Margaret (Raymond) Ebbing; Mary Ellen Runser; Rita (Charles) Steinkamp.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church by Rev. Tom Donovan. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 at the church. Memorials are suggested to St. Anthony Church, St. Dominic School or to Quincy Notre Dame High School.
