Bonnie Hunter

Bonnie Lee Hunter, age 75 of Quincy, Illinois passed away peacefully at 11:00am on Friday July 14, 2017 in Blessing Hospital. Bonnie was born December 18, 1941 in Milford, Delaware to William C. Hunter and Rose M. (Scott) Hunter.

She graduated Quincy High School in 1959. Bonnie was very active in the Drum Corps Color Guard at QHS "Debutantes" and maintained a life- long interest in Drum Corps competitions. She later graduated from Quincy Beauty Academy in 1963 and worked as a cosmetologist until 2002. Bonnie also graduated from John Wood Community College in 1994 with an associate's degree in Nursing and was employed at Blessing Hospital. She continued to study at Quincy University where she graduated 1999 with B.A. in Social Work. Bonnie retired in 2002 and she volunteered her time at The United Way of Adams County in Quincy.

Bonnie lived a life of simple pleasures; she enjoyed her cats, cooking and baking-especially for others, and also entertaining. She loved most to travel and to spend time with her grandsons, Finnegan and Liam. In the 1970's Bonnie was very active at Berrian Elementary, both in the P.T.A. and school library. She was also an active volunteer with the Girl Scouts of America.

Bonnie is survived by her loving life-partner of 35 years, Ms. Ann Langenbach, her daughter Edie Perry Buchanan and her husband Connor Buchanan, and grandsons Finnegan and Liam Buchanan, all of Kansas City, Missouri. She is also survived by many cousins located in the Maryland and Delaware areas.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, William C. Hunter and Rose M. (Scott) Hunter Geers, a loving Aunt who was like a mother to her, Mrs. Jeanette "Nett" (Scott) Hastings, and her paternal and maternal grandparents, as well as several other aunts and uncles.

A casual memorial service will be held at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home in Quincy, IL on Friday, July 21, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Friends are invited to come to the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Quincy Humane Society.
