Richard Morrison

Richard A. (Butch) Morrison age 58, of Quincy, IL passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at 4:20am in his home. Butch was a son of Joyce (Heck) Keppner and Richard L. Morrison. He was born on July 14, 1959 in Quincy, IL.

He graduated from Quincy Senior High School, class of 1977, was of the Christian faith, and his happiest years were spent in Hawaii and Colorado's Rocky Mountains.

As a teenager, Butch worked at Sprouts Inn Restaurant, most of his years he worked for Hawaiian Cruise Lines and resided in Honolulu, and was a member of the Seafarer's Union. Later, he worked at Trevors, B&R's, and Larry's Tavern.

He fought a long battle with cancer and even lost a limb. Even though all he went through, his thoughts were always to help others, so there would be a cure. He had a big heart and we were blessed to have him in our lives. He was blessed to have many and such good friends who cared for him and helped in so many ways. He was close to his family, friends, and relatives and enjoyed the time they spent together. He also loved his dogs: Itty Bitty and Maggie.

Survivors include his parents: Joyce(Tom) Keppner and Richard (Venna) Morrison, all of Quincy. His siblings: Steve (Tina) Keppner of Coatsburg; Brenda (Morrison) Dirkes of Quincy; Bill (Tammy) Keppner of O'Fallon, MO; Michael Morrison of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Annette (Dan)White of Eagan, MN; Kevin (Wilma) Mcglothlin of Hannibal, MO; and Kim (Tim) Whitfield in Arkansas. Nieces and nephews: Jessica, Nicole, Julie, Sarah, Erin, James, Logan, Jake, Gabby, and Aida. Great nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, and an aunt and uncle.

There will not be a visitation, only a private, family memorial service is planned. There will also be a celebration of Butch's life for friends and family in the near future. Arrangements are with Duker and Haugh and Memorial donations are suggested to the Leukemia and Stem Cell Research Fund in care of the Foundation for Barnes Jewish Hospital, 1001 Highlands Plaza Drive West, Suite 140, St. Louis, MO 63110. Last but not least, thank you to, Dr. Meagan Jacoby, Dr. Muhammed Syed and the entire staff at Barnes Hospital. Thank you also to Dr. Christian El-Khoury of Quincy.

To the family of Butch, John and I were so sadden when we heard the news of Butch passing away. He was such a good person and loved to pull a joke on someone. When playing cards or at a party you always knew when Butch was around as he had such a unique laugh,. I knew Butch since 1975 and he came into where I worked then I lost track of him when he worked on the cruise lines until he came back to Quincy. He would ride home with us from parties and we would all discuss who did what or said what and Butch might add a little something to it just to make it funny and have a good laugh over it. We are so glad he is not suffering anymore as he had courage and fought a long hard battle. May he rest in peace and God comfort his family. Sincerely Jeff Moran and John King

So very sad to hear of Butch's passing but I know that he is no longer suffering the pain that he has for so long. He had the best family and support system anyone could ask for. He was one strong man I am proud to have called my friend! God's peace be with you all.
