Charles “Charlie L. Beding

Charles "Charlie" L. Beding age 87, of Quincy died on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at 6:52 a.m. in Sunset Home. Charlie was born June 29, 1930 in Quincy; a son of Gabriel and Stella (Geers) Beding. He married Marilyn J. Altmix on September 15, 1951, and she preceded him in death on December 24, 2016.

Charlie worked for Ameren CIPS for 40 years as a Gas Utilityman until his retirement. He was a 1948 graduate of Notre Dame High School. Charlie served in the U.S. Army from 1948-1949. He was a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church.

He had formerly been a member of the Elks, Eagles and Southside Boat Club. Both Marilyn and Charlie loved traveling, and in their late 60's made a memorable trip to Czechoslovakia to visit extended family. His working career began at age 14, when he went to work at the Maid Rite. He had also worked at E. Best Plumbing. Among his favorite pastimes were going to casinos, dog races, and especially, gardening, as he took great pride in his homegrown tomatoes. He also enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events.

The family expresses their gratitude for the exceptional care that Charlie received on 3 River at Sunset Home. Each and every staff member made him feel truly loved during his short stay.

Survivors include his children, Rick Beding, Lauri Eisenberg and her husband Merlin all of Quincy; five grandchildren, Christian and Hailey Mizera; Mason, Taylor, and Jordan Eisenberg; a sister-in-law, Doris Buss of Quincy; and a son-in-law Tim Mizera and his wife Tracy of Raymond, IL. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, and his beloved dog, Huck.

Charlie was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a brother, Paul Beding, a daughter, Mary Lynn Mizera, and a niece, Chris Ruff.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018
at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass
of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Shriner's Children's Hospital.

So sorry to hear of your dads passing. I remember him from working with Dad (Junnie Boll) at CIPS and from South Side. He was a great man. He will be greatly missed. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.
