Theodore I. "Teddy" Barnes

Theodore I. "Teddy" Barnes, age 54, of 1628 Spruce St., Quincy, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. in Blessing Hospital surrounded by his family and friends. He was born on November 21, 1961 in Quincy, a son of Raymond E. & Marilyn T. (Roling) Barnes.

Ted was a machinist at Midwest Patterns for 36 years and considered his co-workers as family.

Ted was a graduate of Quincy High School. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of St. John.

Ted loved life and adored his children and grandchildren. Family trips to Myrtle Beach and to the Great Smokey Mountains were treasured and he always looked forward to them. The holidays meant something special to him, and Thanksgiving was his most favorite.

He was a diehard Dallas Cowboy's Football fan, and Fantasy Football enthusiast. Ted was a well-known softball player, and played on many teams throughout the years. Ted shared his love for sports by coaching youth baseball, basketball, football and girls' softball teams as part of the CYO, the Quincy Park District and YMCA leagues. He really liked riding his bicycle, he also participated in bowling leagues, enjoyed going fishing and playing golf.

He is survived by his significant other of several years, Linda Burns of Quincy; his dad, Raymond Barnes of Quincy; his children, Brooke L. Barnes & Taylor N. Turner, and Isaac Dallas Barnes all of Quincy; his grandchildren, Azaylla, Kaliyah, ZaKareyah, Reese & Kaisley; and his siblings, Cindy East of Quincy, Mary Lynn Trenter of Durham, MO, Tim (Connie) Barnes and Tom (Joan) Barnes all of Quincy.
Many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home by Pastor Martin Eden. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Catholic Youth Organization.
