Lloyd R. Goehl

Lloyd R. Goehl, age 75, of Fowler, IL, died on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 in Blessing Hospital surrounded by his family. Lloyd was born March 7, 1940 in Quincy, a son of Raymond "Ray" and Johanna (Bockenfeld) Goehl. He married Arlene Westhaus on June 18, 1960 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, and she survives.

Along with being a lifelong farmer, Lloyd was a Star Route Mail Carrier for over thirty years. After his retirement he was a courier for First Bankers Trust Company. Lloyd was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and an Honorary Member of the Knights of Columbus.

Lloyd was known as the "neighborhood watch" as he regularly rode his Kawasaki mule to check in on the neighbors. Lloyd loved being outdoors especially with his horses and decorating his covered wagon for the holidays. Most of all he loved being with his family for Sunday dinners and family vacations. He also enjoyed attending his Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren's activities.

In addition to his wife Arlene, survivors include his three daughters, Barb (Danny) Woodyard; Pam (Mike) Pillars all of Fowler; and Amy Goehl of Quincy; six Grandchildren, Brandy (Kevin) Kasparie; Chuck (Nici) Woodyard; Danielle Woodyard; Chad (Jennifer) Pillars; Brandon (Leann) Pillars and Lexi Goehl. Eight Great-Grandchildren, Allison and Annika Kasparie; Haley, Logan and Colin Woodyard; Shane Pillars; Brayden and Morgan Pillars. Three brothers, Russell (Ann) Goehl of Quincy; Kenneth (Joyce) Goehl and R. James (Lawana) Goehl all of Fowler; a sister, Nancy (Bruce) Sellers of Edwardsville, IL; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Joan (Roy) Vonderheide; Ronald Westhaus and Jerry (Cheryl) Westhaus. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, his son Mark Goehl; a sister, Sharon Ann Goehl and his cousin Bill Goehl, who was like a brother to him.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 25, 2016 at 9:15 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Mark Lloyd Goehl Scholarship at John Wood Community College or to the Donor's Choice.
