Shirley O'Hara

Shirley Mae O'Hara, 79,of Quincy, IL died at 12:11 p.m. Sunday, December 28, 2014 in Sunset Home. She was born April 21, 1935 in Hannibal, MO, a daughter of Clifford and Mary Selsor. She married Jack O'Hara on August 27, 1955 in Trinity Church in Quincy, IL.

She was a graduate of Hannibal High School and Gem City Beauty School. Shirley worked for many years at Motorola until its closing. She then owned and operated The Rouge Box Beauty Shop until her retirement at age 72. Shirley and Jack are members of the Church of St. Peter. She also was a member of Knights of Columbus and Women's Auxiliary of the Purple Heart.

Shirley was a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved bowling, golfing, playing cards and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren attending their various sporting activities.

A special thank you to the 3rd floor staff at Sunset Home for they went above and beyond taking care of not just her physical needs but our family's emotional needs as well. Their compassion, concern and patience to our family was greatly appreciated. God bless each one of you.

Survivors include her husband Jack, two daughters Kathy O'Hara (Kathy Mutchler), Kelly Weiman (Larrry)of Fowler, IL and a son Patrick O'Hara of Daytona Beach, FL; six grandchildren, Michael Weiman of Kansas City, Daniel Weiman and Nick Weiman of Fowler, IL, Raina OHara of Daytona Beach, FL; Sean O'Hara and Christian O'Hara of Ohio; and a foster grandchild Aaron Wallace of Claremount, CA and many loving nieces and nephews.

Mrs. O'Hara was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Clifford (Bud) Selsor Jr., a son, Michael (Clancy) O'Hara, and grandson, Eric Weiman.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in the Church of St. Peter. Interment will be in Quincy Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Duker & Haugh. Memorials are suggested to Eric Weiman's Memorial Scholarship Fund at Quincy Notre Dame; or to the Church of St. Peter Church.
