Vivian L. Duffy, age 99, of the Sycamore Healthcare Center, died on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 in the Center. She was born on July 9, 1917 in Quincy the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Geers) Wewers. She married Francis Duffy on June 10, 1950. He preceded her in death on July 8, 1983.
Vivian was employed by Quincy University in Brenner Library, retiring in 1984. Vivian was a member of St. Francis Church, the Ladies of St. Francis and the Choir of St. Francis. She was also a volunteer at Blessing Hospital, a member of RSVP and of the Lampe Hi-Rise Kitchen Band. She was also very active in the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary.
She is survived by:
A DAUGHTER: Patricia Wells and her husband Rodney of Quincy
THREE GRANDCHILDREN: Stacy Fischer and her husband Eric; Jason Wells and Derek Wells.
THREE GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Austin, Abigail and Arianna Fischer.
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives survive, including her special nieces, Colleen Dodd and Karen Vogel.
In addition to her husband, Vivian was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother: Robert Wewers and a sister: Delphine Sheeley and her husband Jim.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 10:00 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:30 in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday morning from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Catholic Church or to the Sycamore Healthcare Center.
