Edna Mae Smith

Edna Mae Smith age 87, of Quincy died on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 9:32 a.m. in Blessing Hospital. Edna was born June 29, 1930 in Quincy, a daughter of Silas Richard "Ray" Emerick and Mary Adelaide (Crabby) Emerick. She married James L. Smith, Sr. on October 18, 1947 in the Rectory at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on January 20, 2009.

Edna was a homemaker. Her greatest joys were spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always looked forward to their annual family reunions, and the weekly card games with her brothers and sisters.

She was a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church.

Edna's survivors include her three children, James L. (Jeanne) Smith, Jr. of Quincy; Kathleen (Danny) Abell of Durham, MO; and Karrie (Glen) Brassfield of Quincy; Four grandchildren, Kia (John) Hamann of Quincy; Kourtney (Eric) Spradlin of Durham, MO; Brandon and Dustin Brassfield both of Quincy; Five great-grandchildren, Adler, Genevieve, and Liviana Hamann; Maiara and Garrett Spradlin.
Two brothers, Carl Emerick and Albert (Darlene) Emerick all of Quincy; and several in-laws, and many nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and six sisters, Marie Thomas, Dorothy Gracer, Clara Ann Emerick, Florence Havermale, Irene Jones and Lorene Barnard;five brothers, Richard, Virgil, Ralph, Clarence and Lawrence Emerick.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
