Elizabeth F. "Betty" Venvertloh
Elizabeth F. "Betty" Venvertloh, age 74, of 2930 Riverside Terrace, died on Monday, March 28, 2016 in the Good Samaritan Home. She was born on January 12, 1942 in Quincy, Illinois the daughter of Timothy & Leona (Mettemeyer) Mast. Betty attended school at St. Anthony Grade School and graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1959. She was united in marriage to Ralph F. Venvertloh on September 18, 1965 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. He survives.
Betty's greatest joy was her family. She was always involved in her children and grandchildren's activities and loved to see them succeed in everything they did. She was a lifelong 4-H supporter, and after many years as a member, Betty served as a club leader for Melrose Victorettes and Ellington Hilltoppers for a total of 34 years. She remained an active volunteer in the 4-H program even after retiring as a leader. Betty loved giving her time to others and also served as a volunteer librarian at St. John's School and on various committees at Quincy Notre Dame. She never knew a stranger, and loved learning about others' backgrounds - especially if she discovered a family connection. Betty was an avid seamstress, quilter, and cook. She was always up for a challenge, whether adjusting a family recipe, modifying a sewing pattern, or figuring out how to alter a prom or wedding dress.
In her early years, Betty worked as a teller at the Broadway National Bank. She eventually decided to stay at home to raise her growing family, but later returned to the workforce in various positions. She retired from First Bankers Trust Services, Inc in 2007.
