Darlene D. Marcks

Darlene D. Marcks, 80, of Quincy, IL, passed away in her home March 31, 2016. She went home to be with her beloved Jesus and Mother Mary, her husband and her parents whom she missed very much. She was born July 29th, 1935 to Otis and Vera Brocksmith. She married Merwin R. Marcks on September 3, 1955.

Darlene enjoyed saying the rosary and watching the daily mass for shut-ins on TV. She also enjoyed reading, keeping in touch with family and friends through Facebook, and her new hobby of adult coloring books. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren unconditionally. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by family and she treasured their visits and gatherings. She was a loyal St. Louis Cardinal fan and loved bantering with her grandchildren about other teams. Camping was a past time she greatly enjoyed over the years with her husband, children, and their families. Holidays, especially Christmas, gave her much to look forward to as she was surrounded by family, which she referred to as her "dynasty", and always made sure the little ones were spoiled with gifts, hugs, and lots of love. One of her proudest accomplishments was graduating from nursing school at the age of 59. She became an LPN and then worked at Sunset Home for 9 years.

Darlene is survived by her six children, Terry (Alan) Blickhan, Becky (Kevin) Holbrook, Debbie Orebaugh, Peggy Maggart (fiancé Terry Lindsey), David (Peggy) Marcks and Robert Marcks (fiancé Chris Oester); 17 grandchildren; Nicholas (Cheyenne) Blickhan, Trisha (Ethan) Davis, Adriane (Duane) Jones, Tera (James) Terwelp, Alexis Blickhan (Kevin Alte), Tyler Blickhan (Dakota Barnett), Sarah (Tom) McCubbins, Rachel (Josh) Baird, Sam (Amanda) Holbrook, Jason (Nicole) Orebaugh, Jeff (Gretchen) Orebaugh, Billy (Tana) Maggart, Melissa (Chris) Miller, Matthew Maggart (Katie Leach), Kyle (Brittney) Marcks, Kayla Marcks and Korey Marcks; 19 great-grandchildren; and her siblings Cathy (Dewayne) Smart, Vicky (Mike) Haistings and Jack Brocksmith, sister-in-laws Arlene Brocksmith, Paula Brocksmith and Adele Brocksmith. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brothers Gerald Brocksmith, Derald Brocksmith and Roy Brocksmith, a sister-in-law Charlene Marcks, and her son-in-law Billie K. Maggart.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to EWTN, the K of C's TV Mass for Shut-Ins or Camp Callahan.

What're you doing on here Mom? You're suppose to be in your chair having coffee and toast and whatever else you tell me to get.
Please watch over myself and my siblings Mutha--we are so lost without you.
When you find the time, please come visit me in Florida. I would love to have coffee with you by the pool. You would love the warm weather and sitting under the shade of palm trees. We can continue to solve life's problems and tell you about my next tattoo idea.
Please know you left me in good hands with Chris and the Oester family--I am treated like one of their own. I am happy Mom--just like you always wanted.
