Robert “Lyle” Ferguson, age 91, of 106 Marian St., Liberty, Il formerly of his family farm one mile East and one mile South of Liberty, died on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 in Timberpoint Health Care Center, Camp Point, IL. He was born on March 25, 1917 in Buckhorn, IL the son of Clarence & Lillian (Colwell) Ferguson. He married Ruth Reeder on March 15, 1945 in Kinderhook, IL. She survives. Mr. Ferguson was a lifelong farmer in the Liberty, IL, retiring in 2006. Lyle served in the United States Air Force during WWII. He was a member of the Liberty Christian Church. Lyle was also a member of the Liberty American Legion Post #640 for 63 years. Lyle farmed until the age of 89. At the age of 90, Lyle overhauled one of his tractors.

TWO DAUGHTERS: Cheryl Phillips of Springfield, IL and Ramona Schoonover and her husband Scott of Liberty, IL
NINE GRANDCHILDREN: Angela Boyer and her husband Mike; Amy Wagner and her husband Rich; Wes Ferguson; Wendy Kuhn and her husband Rob; Anita Ferguson; Sara Bowen; John Bowen, Shelby Crow and her husband Tom and Chris Schoonover and his wife Kate.
Twelve great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, a son Joe Allen Ferguson and his wife Norma; a brother: Carl Ferguson and a sister: Alta Mae Gordley.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2008 at 2:00 PM in the Liberty Christian Church, Liberty, IL by Pastor Terry Henry. Interment in the Liberty City Cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Post #640. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 12:00 noon until the time of the services at the Liberty Christian Church. Memorials may be made to the Liberty Christian Church, the Blessing Foundation for Hospice or to the Timberpoint Health Care Centre. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
